In-Home Newborn Photographer in Arlington Heights, IL

The newborn days are tender, beautiful, and often more demanding than you expected. An in-home newborn session lets you stay where you are comfortable while Joanna photographs the connection already unfolding around you: the way your baby settles into your arms, a sibling leaning close, and the quiet details of the home where this chapter begins.

Joanna Sopel is based in Arlington Heights and creates calm, baby-led newborn photographs for families who want images that feel natural, warm, and deeply personal. There is no studio travel, no pressure for a perfectly clean house, and no need for anyone to perform. The session follows your baby’s rhythm, with time for feeding, soothing, and pauses whenever they are needed.

Parents and siblings included · Baby-led pacing · In-home and fully guided · Optional keepsake film

A calm newborn session, right at home in Arlington Heights

The first weeks with a new baby can feel full in every sense. Photographing your session at home means you do not need to pack a bag, rush to a studio, or worry about whether your baby will settle in an unfamiliar place. Instead, Joanna helps you slow the day down and creates space for the moments that already feel like your family.

Your session can include soft window-light portraits, parent-and-baby connection, gentle sibling moments, nursery details, and simple newborn portraits. The direction is light and reassuring, so the photographs feel polished without feeling posed.

What your newborn session includes

Every session is built to feel simple, supportive, and beautifully unrushed. Before your date, I help you think through timing, clothing, and what to expect. During the session, I guide you gently so you never feel like you have to perform for the camera.

Newborn photographs that still feel like your real life

The goal is not a perfect version of the day. It is a gallery that brings you back to how this season felt: the small hands, the sleepy stretches, the way your older child watches the baby, and the comfort of holding everyone close at home.

We had such a wonderful experience during our newborn session in Arlington Heights! Everything was so relaxed and comfortable, and we felt very well taken care of. Joanna was patient, gentle, and made the whole experience feel easy and special. We absolutely love the photos and will cherish these memories forever!"

When to book

The best time to book your newborn session is during pregnancy. Most families reach out in the second or third trimester so I can hold space around their due date. If your baby is already here, still inquire—there may still be availability, and lifestyle newborn sessions can be beautiful well beyond the first week.

For parents who want photographs that still feel like home

My approach is warm and lightly guided. I will help you with where to sit, how to hold your baby, and how to settle into the moment, but I am not chasing stiff poses or a perfectly controlled outcome. The goal is a gallery that feels elevated and beautiful while still looking like your family.

FAQ

Do I need a perfectly clean house?

No. We only need a few areas with good natural light. I’ll guide you toward the spaces that photograph best.

What if my baby is fussy?

That is completely normal. Newborn sessions are baby-led, and there is always time for feeding, soothing, and breaks.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Yes. That is one of the most important parts of the session, and it is what makes the gallery feel complete.

Do you offer film too?

Yes. Keepsake film can be added if you want movement and sound alongside your still images.

Planning maternity photos too?

Many families book maternity and newborn together so the story feels cohesive from the beginning. If that is what you are considering, the combined collection is the best next step.
